About the people
- Who will work on our account? Expect names and roles, and a chance to speak to the lead.
- How long have they done this? Look for people who’ve run campaigns for several years, not a sales team in front of trainees.
- What happens when they’re on leave? There should be a named backup.
About the work
- How do you build links? Good answer: outreach, digital PR and industry sites, with examples you can open. Bad answer: packages, networks, “guaranteed DA 50 links”.
- Can we see a real ranking report? With keywords and dates, including ones that dropped.
- What would you fix first on our site? A serious agency will want to audit before answering, and will then answer specifically.
About control
- Whose accounts do you work in? Yours. Always.
- How do you log changes? A shared sheet or ticket system, with dates and URLs.
- What happens to our content if we leave? It’s yours, including drafts.
About the arrangement
- What is the contract length and notice period? Monthly terms with a short notice period are normal.
- When will you reply, and when can we talk? Agree it in your time zone.
- What will the monthly report end with? Enquiries, sales or bookings from search, not a page of rankings.
How we answer them
We answer all twelve in our first call, and we’d rather you asked them. Our results page has the ranking reports, including the keywords that slipped.
